Adult Sunday School: Something for everyone 9:45am-10:45am

Picture
Traditionally known as the most effective form of Christian education, Sunday  School classes are also the backbone of our congregation's strength.  In these small group settings, lifelong friendships and genuine Christian fellowship develop and mature.  It is common for class members to gather for food and fellowship prior to class.

JOY Class

About 65 mature ladies and gentlemen, meet in the Fellowship Hall each Sunday to enjoy fellowship and excellent lessons from six different teachers.  This group is faithful to serve God through caring for each other as well as varied mission projects. You are invited to join this active group and enrich your life.  The class motto is Jesus, Others, Yourself!

Pacesetters

This small but dedicated group meets in the church conference room and is made up of mostly older adults, but the class is open to anyone who would like to join us.  We study the Adult International Bible Series and are led by a rotating set of teachers.  Several members of this class utilize the church bus, which shuttles members from local independent living facilities.

Serendipity

Open to spontaneity and desiring "a faculty of stumbling upon desirable discoveries" about the Christian life in a casual manner, couples and singles in this class meet in  Room 311 on the third floor of the main building as they study and play together in a fellowship of caring.  Class discussion centers on contemporary themes and their impact on church and society.  These lessons are always Biblically based with and emphasis on determining the will of God for your life in everyday situations.  The teacher, Reverend Bruce Donnelly, is a retired Methodist minister who has worked with the poor and homeless in varied locations including many years with the Atlanta Food Bank.

DBS Class

Named for former minister Dumas B. Shellnut, who was responsible for starting the class, our motto is: Doing, Believing, Serving.
We are a loving, caring, sharing family of light-hearted, mature adults who meet in the Upper Level of the Scout Hut, DO God's bidding in the church and community; BELIEVE God's Word as contained in the Holy Scripture; and SERVE others.  Our dedicated, devoted cadre of class members lead us in dynamic, inspirational lessons which sometimes utilize the Adult International Bible series and we have special guest lecturers on special occasions.

Stepping Stones

This class of young singles and couples with ages ranging from 20-40's meets in Room 315 and explores practical applications of the Bible in their everyday lives.  This group also participates in social and service activities with our larger young adult group, Friendship Unlimited.
