THE PARENTS’ CLUB
The Parents’ Club supports families through communication, teachers through our classroom efforts, and the school through fun family events, fundraising and other programs. Volunteering fosters lasting friendships, connects families to the school and builds a unique, cooperative community. Parents’ efforts make SSUMC Preschool & Kindergarten the special place that it is!!
We believe that the example parents set by engaging with their children’s school is so positive, we ask each family to sign an agreement that they will volunteer for at least 1 Parents’ Club event and 1 Class Party. There’s something for everyone at SSUMC Preschool & Kindergarten!! Parent participation and presence at the school contributes to the life of school in countless ways!
Parents’ Club Activities and Standing Committees include:
Breakfast with Santa
Kids’ Fun Run
Parents can be part of the planning and organization for any of the events we host. With shared planning, amazing events can happen! These roles may include booking or hiring special guests (Santa, a Petting Zoo, a DJ, etc.); purchasing or soliciting donations for decorations, food, drinks, etc.; promotions and advertising; decorating, set-up or clean-up; registration and tracking ticket sales, etc.
Day of Event
Parents can also volunteer to help out the day of the event. These roles might include checking people in at the door, clearing tables, manning a game, selling raffle tickets, helping with a craft table, selling concessions, etc. Even with large committees, there are rarely enough people to staff the actual event! It takes all of us, at one time or another, to do our part to foster the kind of community we have built here at SSUMC Preschool & Kindergarten.
Standing committees work throughout the year.
Room Parents are the vital communication link between teachers and families and the Parents' Club and families; they help organize class parties, support the teacher's classroom volunteer needs, and assist the Parents' Club during Teacher Appreciation Week.
The Teacher Appreciation Committee recognizes teachers & staff with breakfasts, gifts and Teacher Appreciation Week.
Pizza Day Coordinators arrange for purchase, pick-up and distribution of pizza, fruit and water during monthly Pizza Days!
The Box Tops Coordinator organizes collection, counting and submission of Box Tops twice a year.
The Yearbook Committee takes photos at events, solicits photos from parents, and creates the Yearbook.
Whatever way you volunteer, your contribution makes a huge difference to our school— and your children notice, too! We thank our many parents volunteers!
