A NEW SEASON OF MINISTRY

“I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?” — Isaiah 43:19

We are excited to share that God has led our church into a new season of ministry. The sale of our South Campus was officially completed Friday, Aug. 1, and the church received the proceeds from the sale. The developers now officially own the property and the company is set to begin construction soon on a mixed-use living and community retail space.

Thank you for your faithfulness, prayers and hard work as we’ve prepared for redevelopment. Below are key updates about our next steps.

As shared with the congregation last month, we plan to move forward with the demolition of the North Campus this fall and relocate to a temporary space. On Sunday, Oct. 5, we will hold a special deconsecration service in the sanctuary. In the United Methodist Church, this liturgy honors the sacred memories within the space while releasing it for new use. Before worship, we will walk through important areas of the building to share memories, give thanks for what they’ve meant to our community, and offer prayers.

Beginning Sunday, Oct. 12, we will worship at 11 a.m. at the Abernathy Arts Center. Thanks to the thoughtful work of our Temporary Space Team, we’ve found a bright and welcoming worship space with high ceilings and a blend of modern and sacred. The center also includes: Two classrooms for Sunday school and children’s church; Full accessibility; Outdoor space for fellowship; A kitchenette; On-site storage; And set-up provided for chairs and tables.
